As in many of theY oung People sR eligious Societies the liturgical readings constitute in large part the exercises at their devotional meetings, the services have been purposely made of considerable length. They may, however, be easily briefened by omitting one or more sections of the order given. In a few instances a service has been arranged to cover more than one topic and use; e.g,y Character and Conduct, Purity and Temperance, Nationality and Humanity. It is hoped that these services may be freely selected from rather than too closely followed, and that they may be supplemented with other liturgical material chosen from Scripture, literature, and song. Thus monotony will be avoided, and fresh life imparted to the worship. The selections in poetry and prose from great writers will, it is hoped, lend additional interest to the service, and furnish seed-germs for thought and discussion at the meetings.
